Kingdom of the Burning Lands
The First Kingdom
The Kingdom of the Burning Lands is the original chapter of Amtgard, a live-action roleplaying game (LARP) organization, founded in 1983 in El Paso, Texas. It all began when Peter La Grue advertised "Attila The Hun's Birthday Bash," attracting local science fiction enthusiasts, including Tawnee Darkfalcon, who became the first Monarch after winning the inaugural Crown tournament. The group officially adopted the name "Burning Lands" on October 1, 1983, to distinguish itself from a splinter faction. As the birthplace of Amtgard, the Kingdom of the Burning Lands has played a pivotal role in shaping the game's history and culture.
